Innovation management

Innovation management is not just about the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IP). It is about combining IP and business strategy in a way that optimises both the protection and utilisation of intellectual property in the context of commercial and market realities.

For example, the grant of a patent for a product or method is not necessarily a green light for commercial exploitation. Dominating patent rights of other patent holders may exist in relation to parts of the product or method. These may necessitate licensing arrangements in order for our clients to exercise their invention without infringing.

Likewise, a patent may not be of direct, immediate commercial benefit to our client. It may, however, be extremely valuable to someone else. In such circumstances, our clients may extract maximum benefit from their innovation by licensing their technology to others.

At HØIBERG we approach IP with a view to identifying the dangers and opportunities affecting our clients, to ensure successful business growth and development.
